Yesterday, Apple announced the next generation of iPhones. The iPhone 14 series. And with the announcement of the iPhone 14 series, comes a lot of new features and a few very significant changes that make the iPhone jump a few generations of evolution into one giant leap. With the New lineup comes features that can even save your life, A design that makes the lineup look a few generations better, A (maybe) Production quality camera, and whatnot. So today we are going to discuss all the features that were introduced at the event.
Let's get started with one of the major changes i.e the Display.
Display & Design changes: Futuristic yet Primitive
The new iPhone 14 pro lineup comes with a major design Revamp after 2017's iPhone X. The new Pill design was probably one of the most anticipated features of the iPhone 14. And Apple delivered on it. Not only with the design part, but the integration is also on point. Yes, Introducing the brand new 'Dynamic Island'.
The Dynamic island is a feature that makes the pill much more significant, as it allows you to use the pill area as one of the most interactive parts of the phone. The dynamic island is not only your new notification center but it can do much more, and that too with very fluid and pleasing animations.
Though this new design is very innovative, this experience is limited to iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max models. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will still be shipped with the iPhone 13 notch.
Well, that was the futuristic part, The primitive part is the introduction of always on display. Apple took a big 9-year gap before adopting this feature from Android. This was one of the most requested features
by Users worldwide. Well, Better late than never.
The Camera: Some Serious Innovation

Cameras have always been a very important part of the iPhone's evolution. The same goes for this time.
The new camera system comes loaded with a primary 48MP quad-pixel sensor, a 12MP telephoto sensor, and a 12MP Ultra Wide sensor.
The primary sensor gives you the results equivalent to 4 Pro lenses at once. The quad Pixel sensor captures 4 times more details in the frame. Apple claims that the new A16 Bionic chip will process the image using a technology called the Photonic Engine, which will refine each and every pixel with up to 4 trillion operations. With this new feature, Apple introduced the new 48 Megapixel PRO RAW, which is actually an image format where the camera system does not process any of the image data and gives you the output directly as captured. This can be a big thing for professional or even casual photographers who want to refine their image as they want.
With the Pro Camera, Apple introduced Pro video, where the Action mode can give you gimbal-like stabilization, And the Cinematic mode can now deliver quality up to 4K 24 fps with the intelligent focus that can make the shooting process much more effortless.
The pro lineup gets all these features as is, but the base models i.e iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 plus have some limitations as they get the same 12MP dual camera setup as before, the features like photonic engine and PRO RAW remains, but the biggest revamp is just for the Pro lineup.
Satellite SOS: Safety in even the most remote areas.
Apple introduced a big safety feature this time, i.e the Satellite SOS. Now without even a cellular network, you'll be able to connect to emergency services using Satellite SOS. This will not only save you and your family from harsh situations but also can be one of the biggest innovations in communication technology as well. If we can contact emergency services using satellites, then I believe the day is not far, when satellites will replace all the cell towers and we will completely rely on satellites for communications. With Companies like Apple and Starlink, The time is not too far.
Though a new connectivity innovation is done, Apple decided to remove the Physical sim tray completely and depend upon E-Sim technology, which most people still don't use. So this can be a backlash in the Indian market and similar markets worldwide.
Crash Detection: Hopefully we never have to use it
Apple added this feature for our safety, If we are ever into a vehicle crash, the Phone will detect it using the High sensitivity g-force accelerometer, Gyroscope, different sensors, and Artificial intelligence algorithms. Whenever there's a severe Crash it will automatically contact emergency services and your loved ones, so that you can get help As soon as possible. This step in user safety can have a very significant impact in case of some mishappening.
A-16 Bionic: The Next generation of Power in Mobile devices.
Apple says that the A16 Bionic has a multicore processor with two high-performance cores and four efficiency cores, a five-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine for performing up to 17 trillion operations per second. The company further claims the high-performance cores use 20% less power compared to the A15 Bionic’s performance cores, while the efficiency cores use a third of the power of unnamed competitor chips.
The GPU has up to 50% more memory bandwidth, and overall, Apple says that the A16 Bionic is upward of 40% faster than rival chipsets.
Other standout features include a custom image signal processor that powers the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera system. The processor, GPU, neural engine, and image signal processor in the A16 Bionic work together to support the new camera hardware and perform up to 4 trillion operations per photo. Meanwhile, a new display engine enables 1 Hz refresh rates, high peak brightness, features like the always-on display, and antialiasing to smooth out rough edges in display graphics.
Just like the pill notch, this feature is also limited to the Pro lineup of iPhone 14. iPhone 14 & 14 Plus will be shipped with the same chip that powered the iPhone 13 series.
The Variants
The iPhone 14 price has been set at $799. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899. Both phones will be available for purchase in Blue, Midnight, Purple, Starlight, and Product Red color options.
The iPhone 14 preorders will begin on September 9. The iPhone 14 will go on sale starting September 16 and the iPhone 14 Plus will go on sale from October 7.
The iPhone 14 price in India is set at Rs. 79,900 and the iPhone 14 Plus price is Rs. 89,900.
The iPhone 14 Pro has been priced starting at $999 and the top-of-the-line iPhone 14 Pro Max price starts at $1,099. The preorders of these models start on September 9 and they will be available for purchase from September 16. They will be available for purchase in Deep Purple, Gold, Silver, and Space Black color options.
The iPhone 14 Pro price in India is set at Rs. 1,29,900 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max for Rs. 1,39,900. The phones can be purchased from Apple online store and through Apple Authorised Resellers.
